West Virginia, 1966 β Inspired by comic books, Saturday morning cartoons, and TV shows like Batman, The Green Hornet, and Mr. Terrific, Point Pleasant Middle School students Jerry and Meg Mitchum have become costumed crime-fighters β night-borne avengers of justice β in other words, the Daredevil Duo of β Hawkmoth and Luna!West Virginia, 1966 β The small town of Point Pleasant is haunted by a terrifying apparition, a huge, fire-eyed, flying monstrosity the newspapers christen Mothman.Wait, what? How can this happen just as the Daredevil Duo are about to announce their existence to the world? Leaping Lepidoptera! People will totally believe they copied their βmothβ motif from this βMothmanβ!. . . Unless they bring in the winged demon of Point Pleasant themselves, like Spidey did the Chameleon or Superman did Bizarro! So, astride their Mothmobiles (three-speed Schwinn bikes), and aided by their faithful Moth-Hound (a black pointer with fuzzy antennae strapped to his head), the prepubescent superheroes soar β or pedal β into the night, entering a weird new world of mutant birds, black-garbed strangers, magic rituals, UFOs, killer clowns, and a mysterious mentor (βYou may call me the Ever-Exalted One, True Believer!β). And, of course, the aerial horror called Mothman. So scoop up your Moth-Bombs (M-80 cannon crackers), click on your Moth-Signals (nine-volt Eveready lamps) and tune into The Adventures of Hawkmoth and Luna! Same Moth Time, Same Moth Channel!
